Linda frase, ¿No creen? Quise iniciar así, ya que el arco iris siempre me recuerda la leyenda irlandesa del duende con la gran olla llena de oro al final del mismo. Y  siempre esa gran olla brillante que todos los mortales buscamos, es a fin de cuentas "la felicidad". Y a veces por tanto buscar no vemos que la tenemos enfrente; el truco es encontrarla en las cosas pequeñas. Fácil ¿No?

Nice phrase, don't you think? I wanted to start like this because the rainbow always reminds me of the Irish legend of the leprechaun with the big pot of gold at the end. And always that big shiny pot that all humans seek is ultimately "Happiness".

And sometimes we don't find it when it's in front of our eyes, the trick is to find it, in the little things.

Easy, no?

Hablando de arco iris y duendes quiero presentarles mis ultimas creaciones. Son dos duendecillos traviesos que hice para mis hijos Beto y Andrés.

 Speaking of rainbows and leprechauns I want to present my latest creations. Two elves I made for my sons Beto and Andrés. 

 Estan hechos con la intención de que les sirvan de sujeta-puertas para evitar que el viento las azote, ya que sus botas estan rellenas de arena de gato y tienen buen peso, además de que se quedan parados estupendamente.

They are made with the intention that they serve as door-stopper to prevent wind the close it, as their boots are filled with cat litter and have good weight, they just stand beautifully.

Ni Andy ni Beto los han usado para este propósito pero lucen bien en sus habitaciones y les han gustado ya que no se lo esperaban; así que !trabajo cumplido¡

Neither Andy or Beto have used them for this purpose but they look good in their rooms and they liked it, so Job well done¡ 

Los he hecho en uno de los Sal que organiza Nohemí del blog "El Ratón de Madera" y me ha gustado mucho.

This elves was from ​ a SAL that Nohemí from the blog "El Ratón de Madera" organized.

Como ven les hice la ropa en colores diferentes, el azul es el de Andrés y el verde de Beto.

As you see I made the clothes in different colors, the blue oneis the Andrew's and the Green one is Beto's.

Y por si no lo notan la barba la hice con un mechudo (trapeador o fregona para pisos), y me ha quedado muy bien, ya que le da un aire diferente al estambre.

And if you do not notice, the beard is made with a mop (cleanning floor mop), and it has been very good, as it gives a different look than the yarn.

Me despido con otra frase para pensar...

Mary Ann is on her way to Puerto Rico, Where my dear friend Carmen is waiting for her. 
It's great to think that this little doll I've made with all my love is going to live in Carmen's home that is so far away from here, where she is going to be loved and apreciated, as I do with all my dolls. 
It's a mysterious way how love travels around the world ¡ Don't you think?
Mary Ann esta en camino a Puerto Rico, donde la espera mi querida amiga Carmen.
Es grandioso pensar que esta pequeña muñeca que hice con todo mi cariño va a vivir en casa de Carmen que esta tan lejos de aqui, donde será amada y apreciada, como hago yo con todas las muñecas que hago.
El amor tiene una manera misteriosa de viajar alrededor del mundo ¡ No creen?

Hi, I want to share with you a beatiful present. I received it yesterday from my dear friend Rosy. As you see is a Frida Kahlo doll, emblematic painter of my beloved country, who was married with Diego Rivera great muralist, both mexican, I´m very proud of them. Thanks Rosy, she is now one of my favorites dolls.

Es una bellisima muñeca de Frida Kahlo, emblemática pintora originaria de mi querida tierra, ella estuvo casada con Diego Rivera, gran muralista, ambos mexicanos y como mexicana estoy sumamente orgullosa de ellos. "Busy as Bees"

Hi, we are on vacations, but we still working our crafts. Why I'm saying "we"? Because this last days I have been with very good company.

Rosy, my dear friend and I    start making our "Mop Angels", like one that my mom gave me a long time ago. That's the one on the photo, later I'm going to post ours photos so you can see how they came out.

Estamos de vacaciones, pero seguimos trabajando en nuestras manualidades. Y porqué digo "seguimos"? Pues porque estos últimos dias he tenido muy buena compañia.

Mi querida amiga Rosy y yo empezamos a hacer unos angeles de mechudo, como uno que me hizo mi mamá hace muchos años. Es el que se ve en la foto. Mas tarde subiré las fotos de los nuestros para que vean como quedaron.

But the great surprice we had yesterday was my daugther Bárbara and her two friends, Erica and Jessy, whom joined us. They wanted to learn to make dolls, so we got down to work.

Pero la grandiosa sorpresa que tuvimos ayer fué que mi hija Bárbara y dos de sus amigas, Erica y Jessy se unieron a nosotras. Ellas querian aprender a hacer muñecas, así que pusimos manos a la obra.

They are doing their dolls all by hand, because there's only one sewing machine, and they are coming out beautiful.

The three of them use the same doll pattern but they embellished each doll with theirs own style and all the dolls are quite different.

Ellas estan haciendo sus muñecas completamente a mano, ya que no tengo tres maquinas de cocer y les estan quedando bellísimas. Las tres usaron el mismo patrón pero cada una la adornó a su gusto, y las tres muñecas estan diferentes.

You maybe can't imagine how fullfilling was for me watching my daugther making her first doll.

Later I'm going to upload the girl finished dolls.

Tal vez no puedan imaginar lo gratificante que fué para mi ver a mi hija haciendo su primera muñeca.

Tan pronto esten listas subiré las fotos de las tres muñecas.

"Raggedy Doll"

Hi again, well this little doll is ready to leave this house. She is going to be my sister Yulia 's birthday present on next thursday. I hope she likes it.

Hola de nuevo, bueno pues esta muñequita esta lista para dejar la casa. Ella va a ser el regalo de cumpleaños de mi hermana yulia el próximo jueves. Espero le guste.

 I just loved her face expression. It seems like she is saying: Please take me with you ¡.

I don't know why, but when I make dolls, I really  get attached to them. So I'm going to miss her when she's not around.

Me encantó la expresión de su cara.Parece que está diciendo: !Por favor llévame contigo¡

No se porqué pero cuando hago muñecas me encariño con ellas. Así que la voy a extrañar cuando ya no esté por aqui.

" Mop Angel"

Hi today I worked in a project that I wanted to do for some time. It's very simple, is an angel to hang in the wall, with the body made of a mini mop.
Hola, hoy trabajé en un proyecto que queria hacer hace tiempo. Es muy simple,es un angel para colgar en la pared con el cuerpo hecho de un mechudo pequeño. 


First I made the wings pattern in a half folding sheet of paper, then I cutted the wings without unfolding the paper, so both sides (right and left) look alike. Then I traced the head's circle and cutted them (head and wings) in their respective fabrics.
Primero hice el patron de las alas en una hoja de papel doblada por mitad, luego las corté sin desdoblar la hoja para que ambos lados (izquierdo y derecho) salgan igual. Luego tracé el círculo de la cabeza y corte ambos en sus respectivas telas.

I sewed the wings with a lace all around and the face too, stuffed both and closed the openings by hand. Finally I joined  all pieces and put on the embelishments  (buttons, flower, ribbon...)

Costuré las alas con un encaje alrededor y la cara también, los rellené y cerré las aberturas a mano. Finalmente uní todas las partes, le puse el pelo y los adornos (botones,flores,listones...)

This angel is for a friend who's having some bad days, and I know that the handmade presents always gives joy to the heart.
Este angel es para una amiga que esta pasando malos ratos, y yo sé que los regalos hechos con nuestras manos siempre alegran el corazón.

"Como hacer una muñeca de trapo"

Tutorial

Esta es una muñeca muy fácil de hacer, ideal para iniciar en la muñequería.

This is a very easy  to do doll, great to start in dollmaking.

Trazar los patrones en la tela y borde la cara a mano.

Trace the patterns and stitch by hand the face.

Costurar el cuerpo, piernas y manos, cortarlas dejando una costura pequeña. Con unas tijeras hacer pequeños cortes alrededor para facilitar el volteado de las piezas.

Sew the body, legs and hands, cut them out leaving a small seam. With the scissors make small cuts all around to make easier the turn out of the pieces.

Voltear al las piezas al derecho.

Turn the pieces to the right side.

Unir las piernas al cuerpo, vean donde quedaron las aberturas para rellenar.

Attach the legs to the body, see where  the openings are. 

Rellenar el cuerpo y las piernas y cerrar a la mano con puntada escondida.

Stuff the body and the legs and whipstitch the opening closed.

Pintar los zapatos con pintura acrílica negra y dejar secar.

Paint the shoes with black acrilic paint and let dry.

Cortar los rectángulos del vestido y las mangas y el pantaloncito segun el patrón y cocer el encaje en las orillas.

Cut the dress, sleeves (rectangles) and the pants acording to the pattern and sew the lace to the edge of each one.

Costura los parches al vestido.

Sew the patches to the dress.

Cierra las mangas y pegalas al vestido como muestra la foto.
Close the sleeves and attach them to the dress as you see in the photo.

.Cierra la parte trasera del vestido.
Close the back of the dress.

Corta el tul y costuralo al vestido.
Cut the tulle and sew it to the dress.

Costura un lado de los pantaloncitos.

Sew one side of the pants.

Cose la parte superior del pantalon para pasar el elástico. 

Sew the top of the pants to put in the elastic band.

Cerrar la costura lateral del pantaloncito.

Sew the side of the pants.

Costura la piernas y voltea al derecho.

Sew the legs and turn .

Hacer unas puntadas en la parte superior del vestido para ajustarlo al cuerpo jalando el hilo para rizarlo.
Make some hand stitches on the top of the dress to atatch it to the doll's body by pulling the thread to ruffle it.

Rize el encaje igual que hizo el vestido y coloquelo en el cuello de la muñeca.
Ruffle the lace like you did with the dress and atatch it to the doll's neck.

´

Costuré unas puntadas en las aberturas de las manos para rizar y rellenar.

I did some hand stitches in the hand's opening to ruffle and stuff them.

Ahora hay que rellenar las mangas del vestido para formar los brazos y cerrarlas con unas cuantas puntadas a mano.
Now you have to stuff the dress sleeves  to make the arms and close them with a few hand stitches. 

Pegar las manos con silicón.

Attach the hands with hot glue.

Pegue el pelo a la cabeza con silicón tambien.

         Glue the hair to the head too.

Agregue adornos a su gusto (cintas, moños, botones...)

Add the embellishments as you like (ribbons, buttons,bows...)

 

Y la muñeca esta terminada. para alegrar a una niña.

And the doll is finished to cheer up a girl.

Una de las muñecas fué para mi hija Bárbara, y la otra para mi sobrina Bárbara (hija de mi hermano Sergio) que ayer cumplió catorce años.

...Y si, ambas niñas se llaman Bárbara, porque así se llamaba mi mamá.

One of the dolls was for my Daugther Bárbara, and the other one was for my niece(Sergio's daugther, my brother)  Ana Bárbara who turned fourteen yesterday.

...And yes, both girls are called "Bárbara" cause that's was my mother's name..
