Is nice to be home ¡

En casa de nuevo, si los contara, parecieran muy pocos...pero han sido unos dias de convivencia familiar bellos, nuestras mismas actividades de siempre; carnes asadas en la casa, pasar el dia en el rancho...lo mismo que hacemos desde hace tantos años.Y a pesar de eso han sido llenos de buenas pláticas, compartiendo vivencias, risas, buena comida y bebida; y me ha tocado descubrir facetas de mis hijos que no conocía... y es que van creciendo y cambiando, y a veces al detenernos un momento es que nos damos cuenta que han madurado.
Home again, if i counted, it would seem very few ... but this days have been beautiful, just the same things; roast at home, spend the day at the ranch ...as we do for so many years; It have been full of wonderful talks, sharing experiences, laughter, good food and drink, and I have discovered things of my children I did not know ... they grow and change, and sometimes it only takes to stop for a moment to realize that they arent babies anymore.

En estas fechas también estan sin falta los amigos, los que siempre nos recuerdan aunque estemos lejos y a los que no olvidamos tampoco. Y aunque sea poco el tiempo de convivencia nos ponemos al dia con nuestras vidas y sin necesidad de mas, confirmamos nuestra amistad y cariño.
Lo que quisiera dejarles con esto es que vivamos cada día al maxímo y atesoremos los momentos que pasamos en familia y con nuestros buenos amigos, que el mañana no importa, igual llegará.

This season is also to share with our good friends, those who always are there for us, and those we care for.
What I would like you to think about with this is to live each day and treasure the time we spent with family and our good friends, because tomorrow does not matter, it just would come.

Y antes de que pasen estas fiestas quiero compartirles el gobelino navideño que hice, combina punto de cruz, patchwork y aplicaciones. Es un diseño muy sencillo pero me encantó... y como no, si empecé la bordada del punto de cruz varios meses atras y por un momento pensé que hiba a quedar para la navidad del año que viene ya que lo terminé justo un día antes de salir para mi casa. La frase que tiene bordada dice: "Todos los corazones vuelven a casa a navidad", cierto, ¿ No creen ? 
And before the holidays end I want to share with you the Christmas wallquilt I did, it combines cross stitch, patchwork and applications. It's a very simple design but I loved it... and how can not to, if I started the cross stitch embroidery several months ago and for a moment I thought it was going to be for christmas next year and I finished just a day before leaving for home. The phrase that is embroidered says: "All hearts come home for Christmas", true, isn't it?

Hice unos pequeñitos con la misma frase bordada y el mismo corazón con el cuadrado aplicado para colgar en el arbolito y lucen mucho también. Me imagino que a ustedes les pasa igual, y les llena de alegría y satisfacción ver sus creaciones adornando la casa.

Me despido deséandoles un nuevo año lleno de amor y prosperidad y agradeciendoles sus visitas y amables comentarios.

I made some little ones with the same heart embroidery and applied heart to hang on the tree and they look nice too.

Estoy trabajando en el cuadro de punto de cruz, que parece que empecé a hacerlo hace siglos; como saben el punto de cruz no es mi fuerte, pero me encanta...
 I'm working on my cross stitch picture, it seems like I'd been doing it for centuries, as you know the cross stitching is not my thing, but I love it...

Pueden creer que hice un error bordando un corazoncito de 13 cruces? Lo acabo de descubrir al tomar las fotos, ni modo a desbaratarlo...lo bueno es que esta pequeño¡¡¡
 Can you believe that I made a mistake embroidering a 13 crosses little heart? I just discovered it now, taking this photos. There's no way, have to undo it...the good thing , is a tiny heart¡¡¡

Tambien he estado acolchando a mano mi gobelino de "la cabaña del bosque" que igual tiene algún tiempo que empecé.
I also have been hand quilting my "Forest Cottage" wallquilt, that I started some time ago.

Ya casi lo termino, me falta una esquina y las orillas...Me encantan las telas que utilice¡¡
Como en todo, tiene tiempo que no acolchaba y he perdido la práctica un poco y me he picado los dedos... no se como no aprendo y me pongo el dedal desde que empiezo la labor¡¡¡
It's almost done, only a corner left to quilt and the border strips...Love the fabrics I used¡¡
Like everything in life, I haven't quilt for a while so I lost practice and hurt my fingers with the needle, why I don't learn to put my thimbleon at the very start of my work?

Hi, Im very happy, cause I already finish the binding of this wallhanging, wich is my first finished project of the year. I'm going to call it my "2012 January project". I'm trying this year to have at least one finish project per month.

Cowboys Wallhanging progress

Hi everyone, well I just finished the wallhanging embroidery, I used both: machine and by hand. I loved how the wire fence looks.


 Hola a todas, pues bien, ya terminé el bordado del gobelino, use ambos a maquina y a la mano. Me encantó como luce la cerca de alambre.

 And sewed the color strips, green, red and brown all around; and finished it with a cowboy's fabric that has some boots hats and pistols on it. It looks very nice ¡  
Finally, I did the hand quilting too, some grass, sun and mountain designs on the same cream color of the background fabric I used.

Le cocí las tiras de color rojo, verde y cafe al alrededor. Y lo terminé con una tela con motivos vaqueros; tiene botas, sombreros y pistolas. Luce lindo¡
Tambien hice el acolchado a mano, unos diseños de montañas, pasto y el sol en el mismo color  crema del fondo.

Yeahh¡¡ Only need to do the binding and it will be my first 2012 finished project ¡

Sii ¡¡ Solo necesito hacer el bies de la orilla y será mi primer proyecto terminado del 2012¡

Nuevo Proyecto

Today I started a wallquilt, it's going to be a present for a good friend and wife; Chari y Rubén. He is veterinarian, and though he works mainly with cattle and horses, he always is there for my dogs if we need him. And I'm making this wallhanging to thank all his attentions to our pets. He always wears boots so I hope he like it. Later I will make the machine and hand embroidery, and then I show you how is going...

Hoy empecé este gobelino que será un regalo para un gran amigo y su esposa; Chari y Rubén. 

El es veterinario. Y aunque trabaja mayormente con ganado y caballos. siempre que lo necesitamos,  está  para atender a mis perros. Y este gobelino es para agradecer todas sus atenciones a nuestras mascotas. El siempre usa botas asi que espero les guste. Mas tarde haré el bordado a maquina y a la mano... y ya les mostraré como va.

Hi again, well my bird's wallquilt is finished and I just hang it in place. I loved how it looks with some of my most precious belongings.

The old sewing machine that now is a beautiful table,made by my husband, was from my grandmother, on my father's side, "chichí", how we use to call her affectionately. I always remember her sewing on it.

Hola de nuevo, pues ya está listo el gobelino de los pájaros y lo acabo de colgar en su lugar. Me gusta como se ve junto a algunas de mis más preciadas pertenencias. La máquina de cocer antigua, que ahora es una linda mesa, hecha por mi marido, era de mi abuela, por parte de mi papá, mi "chichí" como le decíamos cariñosamente. Aun la recuerdo costurando en ella.

And on the table you can see an old coffee grinder; this was from my mother's grandma, my great grandmother. My mom treasured it very much and she gave it to me a few months before she died, so now is a treasure for me, as it was for her. It is very old, I think, and is amazing that it works like new.

Sobre la mesa pueden ver un viejo molino de café; este era de la abuela de mi mamá, mi bisabuela. Mi mamá lo atesoraba muchísimo y me lo dió unos meses antes de morir, y ahora es un tesoro para mi como fué para ella. Es muy viejo, yo creo, pero es sorprendente que aún funciona como nuevo.

In the wallhanging I hand quilted the blue border with some flying birds. I liked how it come out, and there are some close photos of the border so you can appreciate it.
La orilla azul del gobelino la acolché a mano con unos pájaros volando. Me gustó como quedó y hay les dejo unas fotos del detalle a ver si lo pueden apreciar.

Hi, and still raining...This last three days have been raining a lot and i'm still quilting my "Forest cottage wallquilt", I think soon is going to be finish, meanwhile I want to share with you this lovely poem I have found. It doesn't sound that poetic in spanish though still are beautiful thoughts.

Hola, y sigue lloviendo... estos últimos tres dias ha llovido muchísimo y sigo acolchando mi gobelino "La cabaña del bosque", creo que pronto estará terminada.

Mientras tanto quiero compartirles este lindo poema que encontré. En español no se oye muy poético pero aun así son lindos pensamientos.

It is raining, we were waiting it for a long time, hoping the heat go away. The air smells delicious, I love how the wet ground smells.
Está lloviendo al fin, estabamos esperando la lluvia con la esperanza de que se lleve el calor. El aire huele delicioso, me encanta el olor a tierra mojada.

I've been busy, I'm working on two of my unfinished projects: The "Forest Cottage" and the "Birds" wallhangings. 
He estado ocupada, he trabajado en dos de mis proyectos inconclusos: los gobelinos de "La cabaña del bosque" y el de "Los pájaros".

I'm up to start the quilting.
Ya estoy por empezar el acolchado.

I´m searching for some birds silhouettes to quilt in the border.

Estoy buscando siluetas de pájaros para acolchar en la orilla.

I'm working on a new Annie doll, my daugther saw a rag doll with big eyes and yellow yarn hair. She wants one like that and today I have painted and hand stitched  the doll's face. It came out ok, I think, because bárbara like it.

Estoy trabajando en una muñeca Annie nueva, mi hija vió una de grandes ojos y con pelo de estambre amarillo. Ella quiere una igual, así que hoy pinté y bordé la cara de la muñeca. Salió bien, creo, porque a Bárbara le gustó.

Gobelino "Cabaña del Bosque"

This wallquilt is almost finish; at least the top cover, at the end, I liked the colors I've chosen because it was a little difficult to decide wich ones to use.

Este gobelino esta casi listo; la cubierta superior cuando menos, al final si me gustaron los colores que escogí, ya que me fué un poco dificil decidir cuales usar.

All the apliques was machine made, the bird is my favorite.

Todas las aplicaciones fueron hechas a máquina, el pájaro es mi favorito.

It is coming out a little bigger than I thought, the wall where it suppose to be hang is going to be too small. So maybe I take this to my house in Palenque, there, it will look nice...or maybe I'll find another wall to hang it here.

Esta quedando un poco mas grande de lo que pensé que sería,la pared donde la quería colgar va a quedarle chica. Así que a lo mejor me la llevo a mi casa en Palenque donde se vería linda...O a lo mejor aqui encuentro otra pared donde colgarla.

When it is completely finished I will decide where to hang it..meanwhile   good night.

Hi , I'm in a new patchwork project, it's a wallquilt called "Forest Cottage" that I found in a magazine.

Hola,estoy con un nuevo proyecto de patchwork que encontre en una revista.

I started it yesterday, and I spend a lot of time choosing the fabrics before being certain that that's the combination I liked. It's always difficult to me to decide the colors I want to use. Sometimes I think it's the hardest part for me. If you have tips to share on how to combine colors and fabrics it would be great.

Lo empecé ayer, e invertí mucho tiempo escogiendo las telas antes de estar segura de que esa es la combinación que quiero. Siempre se me dificulta escoger los colores que quiero. A veces me parece que esa es la parte mas difícil para mí. Si tienen tips para compartir sobre como combinar colores y telas seria grandioso.

At the end I changed the colors suggested in the magazine, so I'm hoping it comes out nice.

This is the first block, is machine apliqued and today I'm going for the second one... and I'm liking it so far.

Al final cambié los colores sugeridos en la revista, así que espero que quede bien.

Este es el primer bloque,esta aplicado a máquina y hoy voy por el segundo... y hasta ahora me esta gustando.

He is our youngest dog, he is one year old and we all love him. We love all our dogs, as I've told you before, we have four of them.

Hi dear friends,how are you doing? Here in mérida had yesterday what the news called the hottest day of the year; We were at 42 degrees almost all day, even in the aftenoon, about at 6 or 7 PM we still had 40 degrees. So it was an awful day, I didn't sew anything, only did a little redwork. My kids and I, almost spend all day watching TV and eating icecream and popsicles. Later in the nightfall when the wind started to blow was a relief and we had a good sleep.I hope we don't have more days like this.

Hola amigas, ¿como les va? A quí en Mérida tuvimos, segun las noticias, el dia mas caluroso del año; Estuvimos a 42 grados casi todo el dia, aún en la tardecita, 6 o 7 PM seguíamos a 40 grados. Así que fué un dia horrible, no costuré nada solo hice un poco de redwork. Mis hijos y yo estuvimos casi todo el dia viendo tele y comiendo helado y bolis. Al anochecer que empezò a soplar el viento fué un alivio y ya pudimos dormir bien. Ojalá no se repitan muchos dias así.

Today I want to share this wallquilt I've finish a few days ago; It's made with a "sewing ladies's" fabric that I loved in the moment I saw it.

Hoy quiero compartirles este gobelino que terminé hace unos dias; lo hice con unas telas de costureras que me encantaron desde que las ví.

 I just sewed thin strips in different colors around the ladies blocks and joined them with a little wider strips of the other fabric.

Solamente cocí unas tiras angostas de diferentes colores alrededor de los cuadros de las costureras y las uní con tiras un poco mas gruesas de otra tela.

 It came with a decorative strip in a very contrasting yellow with sewing stuff (machine, pincushion, iron board, scissors etc) on it. It is very beautiful so I used it to make the big pocket with divisions in the bottom to keep all my sewing supplies, it came out very nice, and is very useful.

La tela trajo una tira decorativa en un lindo color amarillo contrastante con motivos de costura (máquina,tijeras, alfileteros, tabla de planchar, etc). Está muy linda y la usé para hacer un gran bosillo con divisiones en el extremo para guardar todas mis cosas de costura, quedo bonito y muy útil.

Este es uno de los primeros gobelinos que he hecho. Adoro la frase, especialmente ahora que estoy lejos de casa. Fue bordada a máquina en un pequeño negocio del centro comercial. Yo no bordaba a mano mucho en la época en que la hice. Los diamantes color borgoña de las esquinas y los rectángulos de los lados no me salieron perfectos; las piezas estaban demasiado pequeñas para una "quilter" principiante como yo en esos tiempos.

De cualquier manera me encantó y espero que a ustedes también. 

This is one of the first wallquilts I've made. I love the phrase, specially now that I'm away from home. The phrase was machine embroidered in a small place at the mall; I didn't do much hand embroidery by the time I made it. The diamonds in burgundy fabric from the corners of the center wreath didn't came perfect neither the lateral rectangles, all the parts were to small to join for a beginner quilter like me by that time; Anyhow I love it and hoping you think so too.
