Hola amigas aqui feliz de compartirles mi alfiletero de enero; con tutorial y todo. Y estoy contenta, ya que entre los cuadros de patchwork que siempre he querido aprender está el de "La ventana de la Catedral" o Cathedral Window, en ingles y aproveche practicarlo, aunque sea en un alfiletero. También quiero aprender a hacer el "Plato Dresden", y unas flores de"Hexies" (Hexágonos). Pero será en otra ocasión, espero que en este año también.
Hello friends, I'm here very happy to share my January pincushion, with tutorial and everything. And I'm happy because I've always wanted to learn this patchwork block:  the "Cathedral Window", not matter that I only made two blocks for the pincushion.
I also want to learn to do the "Dresden Plate" and some flowers with "Hexies" (hexagons). But it will be another time, I hope that it will be in this year.

Entre las cosas que dejo mi mamá encontré un patrón de este cuadro, que perteneció a mi abuela y con el que hizo una quilt, la cual me heredo mi madre cuando me casé. Hubiese sido ideal publicarla en esta entrada, pero la quilt está en mi casa de Palenque, será en otra ocacion que les comparta esta maravilla que hizo mi abuela completamente a la mano. Aqui una foto del patrón de mi abuela, se nota lo viejo que es en lo amarillo de las hojas.
Among the things that my mom left, Ifound a pattern of this block, that belonged to my grandmother and whit it, she made ​​a quilt,wich  I inherited from my mom when I got married. It would have been ideal to publish the photo of this lovely quilt in this post, but the quilt is in my Palenque's house. So, it will be on another occasion that I share with you this wonder that my grandmother made ​​entirely by hand. Así que volviendo al alfiletero de este mes, como ven use unas telas lindas y lucen bellos. Hice dos, uno para mí y uno para Rosy para corresponder el detalle que tuvo de regalarme su alfiletero correspondiente al mes de enero. Además sé que le encantan y quería contribuir con uno mas para su coleccción. Con mucho cariño amiga para tí... 
So back to this month pincushion, i use such  beautiful fabric. I made two, one for me and one for Rosy, to match the detail that she  had; giving  me her January  pincushion. I know, she love them and want to contribute with her coleccion with another one. To you my dear friend ...

TUTORIAL

"ALFILETERO VENTANA DE LA CATEDRAL"
Cathedral Wndow Pincushion Tutorial

Este cuadro de patchwork es muy antiguo y consiste en cortar, cocer y doblar, para formar las ventanitas, al terminar queda con cuerpo suficiente como para no necesitar relleno al armar la quilt.

Pero como ven aquí luce magnífico en un alfiletero.

Yo use tres telas: dos estampadas y una lisa. generalmente la lisa se usa en blanco o en beige.

This patchwork block is very old and is all about cutting, sewing and folding to make the little windows.
But as you see here it looks great in a pincushion.
I use three fabrics: two florals and one plain. generally is used plain white or beige.

También se puede hacer más sencillo, con una sola tela estampada al centro, sin añadir los triángulos.

You can also make it simple, using a single stamped fabric, without adding the triangles.

De este cuadro grande saldran los bordes curvos de las ventanitas.

With this big square will come out the curved edges of the windows.

 Es importante armar el cuadro siguiendo los pasos para que sea más fácil a la hora de voltear los bordes y formar las ventanas.

It is important to assemble the box following the steps to make easier to turn up the edges and form the windows.

Como van a ver en el tutorial, usé la tecnologia moderna y pegué la tela con el adhesivo especial para aplicaciones y me funcionó bien. Lo unico es que pegué los 4 triángulos de una vez y al final ya se me estaban despegando. Así que es mejor ir pegándolos de uno en uno conforme los vamos costurando.

As you'll see in the tutorial, I used modern stuff and glued the fabric with special adhesive for applique and it worked fine. The only thing is that I did the 4 triangles at once once and when I finished they were taking off. So it's better to glue one by one.

Yo le hice costura doble, en especial en las esquinas para reforzar, o sea que le pasé la máquina dos veces. Despues le corté toda la tela sobrante.

I did double stitching with the sewing machine, especially in the corners. Then I cut off any excess of fabric.

Realmente me encantó hacer este alfiletero, no me llevó más de medio día, tomando en cuenta el tiempo que tardé en ir tomando las fotos para el tutorial.

Gracias a las que me acompañan en este reto, espero ansiosa las fotos de los suyos.

I really loved doing this pincushion, It took more than half a day, taking into account the time it took me, making the photos for the tutorial.

Saludos, ya en Enero de nuevo, que rápido se fué el 2012; o cuando menos así me pareció. Aquí ilusionada con el reto que me propuse para este año: "Un alfiletero al mes". Recordaran la invitación para acompañarme en esta aventura, pues bien tuvo respuesta la propuesta y dos amigas me han acompañado con sus alfileteros para este mes de Enero. 

Hi, and is January again, 2012 was very fast. Here I am, very excited about the challenge I set for me this year: "A pincushion, a Month". Do you remember the invitation to join me on this adventure?  Well, I do had a response: two friends have accompanied me with her pincushions for the month of January.

El primero que me llegó y que ademas fué un regalo para mí fué el de mi querida amiga Rosy del blog  "Los Sueños de Rosa", que siempre me apoya en todas mis propuestas, además de que me conciente con sus regalos. 

The first one I received and also was a gift to me, was a pincushion made by my dear friend Rosy's of the blog "Los sueños de Rosa", she always supports my proposals, and spoils me with her gifts.

Es un bello Biscornú bordado en punto de cruz, y en color rojo, Rosy sabe que me encantan de ese color. ! Bello ¡ ¿ No creen ?

It's a beautiful cross stitched biscornu, and is in red, because Rosy knows that I love that color. Beautiful ¡ Don't you think?

Y por parte de Sonia del blog "El Palacio de Martín", me llegaron estos acericos tejidos bellisimos, la combinación de colores es maravillosa. 

Tendré que recordar a tejer para hacerme unos tan lindos, ya que en la primaria aprendí pero nunca lo volví a hacer.

And from the blog "El Palacio nde Martín" I got the photos of these three lovely knitted pincushions , the color combination is wonderful.
I'll have to remember how to knit, I learned in elementary school but never did it again.

Y falta el mio, pero el mes aún no termina... mi idea es hacer también el tutorial del alfiletero de cada mes y publicarlo para las que quieran aprovecharlo. Y a lo mejor se animen mas a acompañarme en este reto.

Reto 2013, !!! Un Alfiletero por Mes ¡¡¡ y curiosos monitos.

2013 Challenge, a Picushion a Month and curious monkeys ¡  

 Feliz Año ¡¡ Y yo feliz de hacer mi primera entrada y quiero compartirles que he decidido no hacerme propositos de año nuevo, salvo uno que les platicaré despues. Me parece que los propositos de siempre, bajar de peso, dejar los refrescos, el cigarro etc no deben ser solo en año nuevo sino metas de vida ya que es de nuestra salud y bienestar que estamos hablando . Pero me hice un proposito en cuanto a mis labores, o dicho mas correctamente; me propuse un reto, ya que que es algo que me ilusiona. Adoro los alfileteros así que mi reto del 2013 será:

 "Un Alfiletero al Mes"

¿ Que les parece'? Si alguna quiere acompañarme y enviarme alguno que hagan cualquier mes, me encantaría publicarlo junto a los mios, porque estoy segura que a muchas les encantan también y uno más, nunca sobra.

I'm very happy to do my first post. I decided not to do New Year's resolutions, but one which I will tell you later. I think that the usual resolutions, lose weight, give up soda, cigarettes etc. should not be only on New Year but always in our life goals because is about our health and wellbeing that we are are talking about. But I got a purpose about crafting, or  a challenge to achieve, because it's something that makes me happy. I love pincushions, so my 2013 challenge is:

  "A Pincushion, A Month"

What do you think '? If any one wants to join me and send me the photo, any month, I'd love to publish it next to mine, because I'm sure that a lot of you love pincushions too, and there are  never to much.

Pues bien, ahora a platicarles de estos lindos y curiosos monitos que hice el año pasado como regalo navideño para mis sobrinos más pequeños: Nico y Alex. 

Well, now I want to show you these cute and curious monkeys that I made last year as a Christmas present for my younger nephews Nico and Alex.

Siempre los veia en la red como "Sock Monkeys" (Monos de Calcetín), y no me llamaban la atencion, me parecían como una manualidad para niños, y lo es ya que se pueden hacer totalmente a mano. Pero dí con un sitio donde mostraban unos que me parecieron  simplemente bellos y con el tutorial así que puse manos a la obra y quedé fascinada con el resultado.

I always saw them in the net as "Sock Monkeys" , and I looked it like a craft for children, and it is, because you can do it entirely by hand. But I found a place that showed some monkeys, simply beautiful and with the tutorial so I sit to work and got fascinated with the final result.

Se utiliza un par de calcetines para cada mono y lo maravilloso es que se aprovechan en su totalidad. Incluso pueden hacerse reciclando unos viejitos...solo que no esten agujereados, !! ja-ja ¡¡ Además se hacen bastante rápido y de manera muy sencilla.

It uses a pair of socks for each monkey and the wonder is that you don't waste anything. Even recycling some old ones ... just check it doesn't have holes ! ja-ja ¡¡ It also are quite fast and very simple to do.

Tuve que dar varias vueltas para encontrar unos que me gustaran, ya que los quería rayados y de colores alegres como los que salían en el tuto.

I had to go to several places to find some that I liked, because I wanted stripes and bright colors like the ones in the tutorial.

A  fin de cuentas si los encontré  y como ven en las fotos me quedaron chulos. Tengo pendiente hacer otros dos para mis sobrinos Alejo y Javi que viven lejos y no los vimos esta navidad, pero sus monos en breve estaran en camino a su casa.

After all,I found some,as I see in the photos. I have two more to do for my other two nephews: Javi and Alejo, who  live far away and we didn't see them this Christmas, but their monkeys will be soon on their way home.

Y me despido con la foto de Nico y Alex felices con sus monos. Les recomiendo hacerlos ya que son unos muñecos super abrazables que a cualquiera le encantan.

And I leave you with a photo of Nico and Alex , very happy with their monkeys. I recommend you to make them because they are a super-huggable toys and everuone would  would love them.

! Que lindo estar en casa ¡

Is nice to be home ¡

En casa de nuevo, si los contara, parecieran muy pocos...pero han sido unos dias de convivencia familiar bellos, nuestras mismas actividades de siempre; carnes asadas en la casa, pasar el dia en el rancho...lo mismo que hacemos desde hace tantos años.Y a pesar de eso han sido llenos de buenas pláticas, compartiendo vivencias, risas, buena comida y bebida; y me ha tocado descubrir facetas de mis hijos que no conocía... y es que van creciendo y cambiando, y a veces al detenernos un momento es que nos damos cuenta que han madurado.
Home again, if i counted, it would seem very few ... but this days have been beautiful, just the same things; roast at home, spend the day at the ranch ...as we do for so many years; It have been full of wonderful talks, sharing experiences, laughter, good food and drink, and I have discovered things of my children I did not know ... they grow and change, and sometimes it only takes to stop for a moment to realize that they arent babies anymore.

En estas fechas también estan sin falta los amigos, los que siempre nos recuerdan aunque estemos lejos y a los que no olvidamos tampoco. Y aunque sea poco el tiempo de convivencia nos ponemos al dia con nuestras vidas y sin necesidad de mas, confirmamos nuestra amistad y cariño.
Lo que quisiera dejarles con esto es que vivamos cada día al maxímo y atesoremos los momentos que pasamos en familia y con nuestros buenos amigos, que el mañana no importa, igual llegará.

This season is also to share with our good friends, those who always are there for us, and those we care for.
What I would like you to think about with this is to live each day and treasure the time we spent with family and our good friends, because tomorrow does not matter, it just would come.

Y antes de que pasen estas fiestas quiero compartirles el gobelino navideño que hice, combina punto de cruz, patchwork y aplicaciones. Es un diseño muy sencillo pero me encantó... y como no, si empecé la bordada del punto de cruz varios meses atras y por un momento pensé que hiba a quedar para la navidad del año que viene ya que lo terminé justo un día antes de salir para mi casa. La frase que tiene bordada dice: "Todos los corazones vuelven a casa a navidad", cierto, ¿ No creen ? 
And before the holidays end I want to share with you the Christmas wallquilt I did, it combines cross stitch, patchwork and applications. It's a very simple design but I loved it... and how can not to, if I started the cross stitch embroidery several months ago and for a moment I thought it was going to be for christmas next year and I finished just a day before leaving for home. The phrase that is embroidered says: "All hearts come home for Christmas", true, isn't it?

Hice unos pequeñitos con la misma frase bordada y el mismo corazón con el cuadrado aplicado para colgar en el arbolito y lucen mucho también. Me imagino que a ustedes les pasa igual, y les llena de alegría y satisfacción ver sus creaciones adornando la casa.

Me despido deséandoles un nuevo año lleno de amor y prosperidad y agradeciendoles sus visitas y amables comentarios.

I made some little ones with the same heart embroidery and applied heart to hang on the tree and they look nice too.

Duendecitos Tilda

Little Tilda Elves

...Y aquí estan mis duendecillos Tilda, los hice en un proyecto conjunto del blog "Las Tildas de Canelussaka", y estoy feliz de haberlo terminado justo a tiempo.

... And here are my little Tilda elves, I made them in a joint project of the blog "Las Tilda de Canelussaka", and I'm glad I finished just in time.

Como ven son una parejita, ya que uno trae shorts y la otra un vestidito muy coqueto, ambos se hacen con el mismo patrón, nada mas la ropa cambia.
As you see they are a couple, and one has shorts and the other one has a very cute dress, both are made with the same pattern, only the clothes change.

Esta es la duendecilla, como ven usé esta tela roja tan navideña, la cual no me alcanzó para darle el largo completo al vestido, así que le hice un fondo de rayas, igual que el gorro y luce mas coqueta así, o cuando menos así me parece a mí.
This is the pixie, as you see I used some red Christmas fabric, which was not enough to give me the full length of the dress, so I made a striped skirt, like the hat and she looks more flirty that way, or at least, it seems to me.

Este duendecillo luce chulo en sus shorts de rayas, dejando ver sus botas rojas. Estas estan adornadas con cascabeles igual que el gorro, los cuales suenan cada vez que los muevo.
This boy looks cool in his striped short pants, so we can see his red boots. These are adorned with bells, the hat too, and they sound very nice every time I move them.

Y así como llegué me voy, que son dias atareados, ya que nos estamos preparando para irnos a casa, en Palenque a pasar estas fechas. Nos vemos pronto que ahora quiero darme un tiempito para visitarles también... 

And as I get here, I'm leaving now, cause these are busy days, because we are preparing everything to go home, in Palenque to spend the holidays.
